So i came on the forums a little while ago, and updated my 9502 to the latest beta firmware (6.1) - just because I was looking to get the best out of my PPC. These are just my opinions of having the 6.1 Firmware for the last month or so.

I jam-packed my PPC with programs from http://www.demonoid.com - including
TomTom7 (the BEST GPS program for the 9502) and the SPB Applications (which made my PPC way more accessable & customizable)
Then i deleted the useless ones, such as Bowling Master...

Thus far, I have mixed feelings regarding this phone. I wanted something efficient,
fast & something that has instant access to the internet 24/7...

The positives with 6.1 Firmware

Interface seems faster than previous.
GPS improved - & auto connects when program needs it.
TaskManager allows more efficient closure of programs (especially with SPB Pocket-Plus)
TV-Out Looks better, auto-focus's and fits screen
File Explorer is awesome. WMP is also Good
4gig > SDHC Cards work a treat (weird i thought it'd be a hardware thing)

The
negatives with 6.1 Firmware

Internet Explorer & phone calls don't work @ the same time.
Internet Access is fast, but not instant.
Clock time is unstable & doesn't actually save when changed.
Keyboard is ****... still... very unresponsive.
When i flip the screen out, it's still unresponsive.
Finding bluetooth device names takes forever. (possibly always has)

Thats about all i can write about at the moment, hopefully this thread will be helpful in people looking to get the most out of the 9502, but certainly grab a 4gig SDHC Card, download SPB Software and TomTom7 to get the most out of your phone!

What does everyone else think? Any other important softwares that users can experiment with? Looking forward to the public release...

I totally agree...The update makes the device a bit more stable but most of the complaints seem to be vast ones...The most nerve racking for me is the keyboard response..It has seem to have gotten worst! I ordered a 8gb Sdhc card so I will see how that goes...Most of the software I have seems to work adequately:

Opera browser
Agile Messenger
Sprite BackUp
Core Player
Pocket Player

The device is no where near it should be and with the 900.00 price tag I paid I'm feeling some what cheated especially with devices coming out cheaper and WORK...I don't believe there is such thing as a perfect device but for 900.00 and a name like ULTIMATE this should have came pretty close!

I will try to hang in there for the official 6.1 release...but currently looking at other devices

COMMENT: if you are using GPRS or EDGE to connect to the internet, then it is not a problem of your 9502. Only UMTS and HSPA allow data connections and voice at the same time.

COMMENT: please, check if these lockups you are experiencing might be related to SPB mobile shell. I have the beta WM6.1 ROM loaded in my 9502 for 2 months already, and I have never faced laggings and hangings.

COMMENT: have never had problems finding BT devices or their names...

COMMENT: like I said before, caution about loading heavy shells. They might affect general stability. And I have a 8GB microSDHC inserted all the time without any problems...

Ok. Installed the OS (1.77) and programs yesterday.
Battery was at 60% charge when I did the load. Put the unit on charge overnight.
In the morning, I found that the unit had shut itself down and was very warm. When I turned it on, it had under 10% charge.

Today I charged it up again, and it seemed to charge ok.

It had developed a problem with IE however. After random amounts of time, it locked up and was completely unresponsive, requireing removing the battery to unlock it.

Loaded were only 2 3rd party software products, Google Earth and the Lingvosoft Russian translator and cyrillic keyboard driver.

On the possibility that the keyboard driver is the source of the problem, I've done a complete cold start and the unit is now clean with only the software supplied by IMATE.
I will let you know how it goes.

If the problem is due to the keyboard driver, I will be very dissappointed as the translator was the sole reason I chose this telephone.
I have googled the software and and could find no reference to anyone else having problems with the keyboard driver, in any of it's variants on any windows device, phone or otherwise, or in fact on any of the other supported platforms.

The version 6 version of the OS would lock up this way randomly after a few weeks of fairly heavy usage but the 6.1 OS locks up within at best a couple of minutes each and every time I run IE.
