I'd like to disable the feature that shows the Today screen every time the phone is turned on. It's interrupted my note taking during meetings too many times now.

This annoying "feature" doesn't seem to have a user-accessible switch under the system settings, so I assume it's buried in the registry somewhere. Does anyone know how to do this? i-mate support has been less than helpful.

Thanks!

If I've understood you right, I recall such a behaviour in previous ROMs with my late HTC Universal.

If you are still using the stock WM6 ROM, I suggest you upgrade your device to the leaked Telstra WM6.1 ROM, which is floating around. Just google for it...

You see, with WM6.1, the last application running is kept in the foreground whenever the device comes from stand-by.

On the other hand, if you don't intend to upgrade to WM6.1, in case you have enabled the password lock feature, it might help if you disabled it.

Just my 2 cents...

Cheers!
Carlos

yeah, i'm still on the stock rom that came with the phone. like everyone else, I've been waiting for the new rom to come out, and I've had the phone since it was releaased. kinda sickening to keep hearing that the new rom will be out "soon" but month after month it never happens. I might just bite the bullet and try the unofficial rom. is it safe? I don't want to brick my phone...

you've understood correct tho. my old cingular 8125 (htc wizard, wm5) did not send you to the today screen on wake up... was the HTC universal WM 6? perhaps it's a WM6 thing and not an I-mate thing if that's the case.

Yes, my late Exec was flashed with WM6 when I detected such an annoying behaviour. So, it's Microsoft's fault, not i-mate's.

Well, even before receiving my 9502, I recall reading a lot of threads complaining about the stock ROM's flaws. So, I flashed the leaked ROM on  day 1 (over 3 months ago), and I don't have any reasons at all to regret my decision. Everything just works ! SDHC support, A2DP, HFP, Wi-Fi with WPA2-PSK, GPS auto connection/disconnection, no hangings or laggings of any kind, etc, etc, etc...

Back to your case, do you have your master password enabled? Have you tried to disable it? Has it helped?

One thing that came to my mind: even if you decide not to flash the leaked ROM and keep your master password enabled, you could try to install WkTask. It keeps an icon of each program currently running  on the title bar, just like Windows does. So, when you waked up you device, you just had to tap on your the Notes program icon to bring it to the foreground...

Cheers!

Had some time today to try all this out, and what do you know? I disabled the master password and my programs don't minimize on wake up anymore! How annoying since I do rather like the password screen. I don't recall this happening on my old phone tho, even with the password set (usually have it set to 12 hours). Maybe my memory's just bad.

I also checked out WkTask, and for a free app, it's completely eliminated the need to run HandySwitcher (a paid app!). Gotta add that one to my list of necessary installs for WM now. haha

I'm gonna go download that WM 6.1 ROM. Thanks for the help!

Glad to have helped you, somehow...

Wish you luck, in case you decide to flash the leaked WM6.1 ROM, like I did !

Cheers!
