muffincrumpet -> 9502 screen does not power up on incomming call (5/15/2008 6:13:10 PM)

Hi everyone, sorry if this post is in the wrong thread but for some reason the server is not letting me log in to create a new one.
Does anyone have a problem with the 9502 where the screen doesn't power up from power saving mode when a call comes in?
This only happens sometimes so I can see who's calling when the phone rings.
When the dispaly is on, there's no problem. It seems like the device has trouble waking the screen up from power save mode.

Many thanks.

Maybe little old, but good to have it here I think.
Its an article about QUALCOMM and ATI + MSM solutions

Robl0 -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (5/26/2008 1:16:35 AM)

The iPAQ 3950 I bought about 6 years ago exhibits VASTLY superior video performance to my so called "ULTIMATE" 9502.  What the hell is going on here iMate???  Surely this is extremely embarassing and damaging to your brand name when your flag ship product is so fundamentally flawed!!  The poor general performance combined with the lack of SDHC support suggests that the device should have been named the RETARDED 9502.  Producing updates designed to make this machine live up to it's name should be company's highest priority.  I would not recomend this device to anyone at the moment.

Please fix it iMate.  I didn't spend $1000AU to be the proud owner of a device that plays video like a 286...[image]http://forums.imate.com/micons/m14.gif[/image]

mikefreegan -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (5/27/2008 6:37:36 AM)

I agree.  Every review I have read so far advises people not to buy the 9502 because the video recording/playback is so poor, and lacks SDHC.  This should be I-Mate's highest priority.

As it stands, I can't get through to product support, no-one from I-Mate replies in the forums and no-one from I-Mate replies to my emails.  Nice one.

iggii -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/6/2008 2:32:58 AM)

I'm really upset - my €750 device is unable to play 333kbps 59MB video-clip and is unable to recognize SDHC. Starting to regret I bought one and didnt wait for something else

iggii -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/6/2008 3:27:04 AM)

Anyone got acceptable output from TV-Out? The best I could was 5-10 FPS ( 580x320 video ) - that is unusable and with lower resolutions it is not much better.

mikefreegan -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/6/2008 7:02:41 AM)

Check the thread over at XDA-Dev:

If this guy is telling the truth, it looks like new devices may have some kind of update that improved video performance.

iggii -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/6/2008 7:42:12 AM)

If he is telling the truth, it has to be the resolution - as he said he has no problem with 2096kbps 320x240 and I cant play 333kbps Xvid

mikefreegan -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/9/2008 3:07:57 PM)

I just watched a video of a HTC device with an MSM7200 chip (same as 9502) with Google Android operating system running Quake at 30fps!

Come on I-Mate.  PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE get these drivers sorted.

Barros -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/14/2008 9:56:42 AM)

Does anyone asked imate when will the next ROM be avaiable?

sierraatomic -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/15/2008 4:20:21 AM)

UniCom (Polish i-mate distributor) informed that i-mate confirmed OS update to WM 6.1 for 9502 and 8502.
The exact date will be announced soon.

Lets hope that it will solve more problems, than it will cause

Windows Mobile 6.1 will make the 9502 faster and supporting the SDHC.

Most of the bugs will also be corrected and, with a bit of luck, the video drivers will be improved [;)]

I hope you're right, but you have no gaurauntee of that, especially if ths SDHC incompatibility is hardware related. The loss of WiFi when using xda-style SDHC patches suggests it may be like the XDA Flame etc. AIUI this was caused by the WLAN chips being wired/adrressed to part of the SDIO bus unused by normal SD, so there's no way it can be circumvented with software without conflicting with WiFI. Then again, I'd be glad for i-Mate to prove me wrong!

mikefreegan -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/20/2008 7:02:03 AM)

I hope you are wrong about the hardware being the problem.  I was under the impression that SDHC was completely software based - so you can make any old device support SDHC with software updates.  It does sound like the same problem as the Flame though.

I wish I-Mate would just have the decency to tell us rather than keeping silent about updates and giving everyone different info in product support.  If they aren't I need to sell it ASAP and get some money to put towards a HTC Touch Pro or Sony X1.

Because 2gb is not enough storage for me.  I am away a lot and bought this device so I could avoid taking my laptop in our tour van (ie fill it with sat nav, movies and music and have enough room left to take photos and videos and use it like a laptop for doing my work and watching movies using TV-Out).

tried asking, but the Europe Support never has anyone there. I've never managed to get through to the American support and the Australasian support guy closed the conversation when I asked him about the issue.

I have had the same experience
Unacceptable I-mate, I have a brand new device and it performs worse, not just for video, but all general functions than my old htc hermes/dopod 838 pro.

What gives.......

Please let us have the updated video drivers we all know exist ??? Please ???

ed5crew -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/24/2008 11:10:36 AM)

Hey, I have been using my Ultimate 9502 for a while now, and I have noticed something weird. Have you guys noticed that the video performance is almost twice higher when using it under portrait mode? Try it, Get the new Opera Mobile 9.5 (google it) And notice the HUGE difference it makes in scrolling when you are in Portrait mode. It SHOULD be the same performance under landscape, because even though the screen gets "wider" , it's still obviously pushing the SAME amount of pixels. For me that screams: Rushed video drivers. This is not limited with Opera Mobile, it happens on ALL apps.

motionmind -> RE: MSM7200 video drivers (6/25/2008 12:34:52 PM)

Looks like there may be a light at the end of the tunnel with the video drivers...at least for some.
