Where did the new ROM COME FROM? it is a hack from another phone? or a beta testers copy? I am Ready to send the phone back. All of the issues in these Forums are common to my phone too. So why dont Imate release this officially? I cant get a full day of use before the battery goes flat. Check emails once, not auto checking. maybe 5/10 short calls not Video calls. No GPS. NO WIFI, Bluetooth on, but I need that on, and never an issue with BT on my Palm Treo 650. When its Summer & I do the 12 Hour days, the battery will be DEAD after about 7/8 HRS. It seems the processor goes slower once the battery is 25% and the phone just stops working!! What a POS.

Hi,

I'm desperate. I have one question. I have the "Please reconnect to PC and run update again" error and I followed the steps for upgrade. I get on the laptop the "Send data to mobile device..." message BUT on the phone screen is still the "Please reconnect..." message. Is this the correct behavior? Did anybody saw the upgrade process on the mobile screen?

What windows do you use ??? Never use Vista because vista can not send dara to your mobile .
If you use Windows XP remember --->

1) uncheck USB connection in active sync . \

2) see if another program has attached t your com3 port . this is important .
com 3 port should be open and free .

3) Remember no VISTA yo should run upgrade under win XP .

In this new beta ROM there is not also MMS as message option. Can somebody help??

Hi,

I'm using Win XP SP3, I have COM 3 free, no firewall, no USB connection active in Active Sync... no result... still "Please reconnect to PC"

Think they just come in your SMS folder in WM6.1

XDA to the rescue! Thanks zyxell. I tried the update on both xp and vista machines and couldn't get it to work, but after using the vista info on a computer the update worked perfectly. I had the box ready to ship the thing off when I logged in at work and saw your post.

All links to the ROM in question have been removed and will continue to be removed until an official release of the ROM has been made. There are still issues with this ROM. Under certain conditions your device may become unoperable and unrecoverable. This was not a BETA release; this ROM was a test version that was not intended for customers.

Please check http://www.imate.com/support_devicesupport.aspx for the latest device ROMs.

As you can tell from the messages of others in this tread, i-mate is working toward delivering a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM that addresses the issues brought to us you our customers.

THIS IS VERY STRANG !!!! kian you have removed the link to the problem solution !!!! my imate is not working any more i got the screen "reconnect to the PC ..." and zyxell posted a URL to the issue solve and you removed it !!! , i hope you was here when to remove the link to the ROM which caused the problem !!!!! please any one can repost the URL

Kain,
I presume you represent i-mate. Don't you see a problem where the test software is 100% better than the software the phone was release to market with. Many of us have struggled for months to try to get this phone to do what it should have done out of the box. I for one was on the verge of sending this phone back as a slow unreliable and totally unsuitable as a business phone. Information and feedback has been very poor on i-mate's part, this is at least some light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

it DOES NOT matter this new 6.1rom is beta, or pre-beta, or call whatever!
this new rom supports microsdHC, automally turn on gps when u start gps programs, more free memory, and seem to run faster too!
yes, this rom is working 110% for me, i havnt find any complains yet!

it works like magic, thanks zyxell you saved my imate, it was a dead body and the imate support adviced me to send to service center.

I don't know you but I know you censored my posts and my friends posts also .

1) instead if censoring threads it's better trying to solve problems . don't waste your time but try to solve your company's mistakes and your program bugs as compared to that of HTC .

2) Internet means Freedom and Kain means rectriction & censorship in my mind .

3) Better to advise the online stuffs not to tell jokes when they are asked some question . It seems some of them does not ever seen the imate 9502 in their life --> How can a person never seen imate 9502 answer our questions ?????

4) I am still surprised --> buying a 900$ phone but no Support , no free forum , no tolerant moderator , no ........

5) I suppose my friends to continue our post in one of these 2 forums

I agree with you 100%. the 9502 is out of the box, useless as any sort of device.
phone, screen keypad TOO small it use with fingers ( thats what you dial with) contact lookup is hopeless. MS Voice Command wont work correctly.
mp3 player, uses so much memory & battery that 1 hour of use means the battery is DEAD 3 hours sooner than with no mp3 use. ie NO phone calls in or out. a $30.00 mp3 player runs all day on one aaa cell.
camera, so slow to start, the special moment is gone. 3M photos?? a joke. after 6 shots to memory card. phone locks up.
video player, my old treo 650 with TCMP plays anything.
email, ok that works.
battery, CAN NOT get a full day with just bluetooth on & normal phone usage.
WiFi, ok that works, any more than .5 Hrs & battery goes flat.
If this new ROM works. It means I can keep the phone.
ITS embarrassing to have a $1100.00 NEW Phone that wont work!! Who wants to reset 3/4 times per day.

I don't blame I-Mate for removing the link. Most companies wouldn't want a leaked beta on their website. Just find the ROM on XDA-Dev. It's pretty easy.

I can't wait for the official release. Hopefully it'll have graphics drivers ;)

Perhaps what I didn't make clear is that I did get the ROM upgrade onto my phone. It is a big improvement and makes the phone at least close to what it should have been. Battery life seems improved and resets much less common. A days (light) use with BT on, no WiFi or GPS and about 40% battery at end of the day. Not a big user of camera or other multimedia but seems better. Only have a 2Gb card so SDHC hasn't been a problem. MS VC worked straight up and announces through bluetooth car kit, a very big plus for me.
Get the upgrade when you can, not 100% perfect but what WM device is?

I know this should go in the 8502 cat but none the less, it will apply to some. Tried to update to the new 6.1 rom and ran into probs, so i took it to the service centre in Adelaide who emailed imate for me in regards to a new rom and was supprised that the mabile centre here were emailed back the NEW OFFICIAL yet to be released 6.1 rom. Service centre upgraded it for me and have had no issues whatsoever over the last couple days, couldnt be happier.
