I finally repaired my phone

...after 100 attempts... for the "Please reconnect..." error... Thank you all for support...
I hope somebody from imate reads these posts... and hopefully learn something...

Well, I don't know about you but I am extremely happy with my 9502 and would recommend to others. Yes I want the 6.1 ROM but I will wait until the official version is released as there seems to be a number of bugs in this ROM by all the comments on this forum of having trouble with load and reconnection. I yjink that Imate are fine in waiting for a ROM that actually works properly and not one that only partial works.

LOL... They removed the ROM probably cos it is too good!!

Before I installed the ROM I was very disappointed with the lockups, shortcomings and other failures.

Since installing the ROM I haven't had a problem... So many things work better, GPS, SMS, Camera, SDHC, Voice Dialing, Bluetooth. (I don't like the MMS incorporated in SMS, but I can live with it.. the phone F**king works perfectly all the TIME!)

If and When they pull their finger out and release the official IMATE ROM... It would want to contain significant improvements over this unofficial one to make me change to it.

If you have a 9502, find this ROM and install it!

Kain, what you have to realise is that we all accept this is a pre-beta ROM and that it could potentially have difficulties (I'm an 8502 user) - and yet we are all still so desperate to take the risk and install it! What does that tell you? The biggest problem with all of this hasn't been the bugs (annoying as they are). It's that there has been NO OFFICIAL WORD EVER FROM I-MATE!! You simply ignore your users. Your support is hopeless and if anyone ever actually can get through, the person on the other end barely speaks english, knows nothing about the devices and essentially just tries to fob you off with no information about anything.

Communication, I-mate - that could go a long way to resolving this whole thing and appeasing people. The first official word we've ever heard in any of these forums from anyone at I-mate is a cease and desist notice! That's it! Otherwise we are totally abandoned and ignored. How about instead of censoring posts, offering something like "Hey, we understand your frustration, we are working on an official ROM and we expect it to be out mid-august. Please be patient and in the meantime if you have any questions at all I'd be happy to answer them"...or something like that. All anyone wants to know is - what issues are you working on trying to fix and approximately when can we expect a solution? If you can't offer that (which it seems you can't), then we are forced to resort to any means necessary to fix a so-called 'Ultimate' device, with an 'ultimate' price tag, that can't even support SDHC! We've paid a lot of money here I-mate. A little meaningful dialogue would be nice.

I have downloaded the ROM update. Can you explain the issues with the update install. It seems all of the problems are related to Vista drivers etc. I wll be using Xp for the update. Thanks.

I'm facing different issue... "EUM update fail: Please reconnect to PC and run the upgrade again... When try to re-upgrade getting "EUM update fail: Get Battery status fail"...

So, any help is highly appreciated... :(

and at this mode there battery is not charging any more, i have tried a lot to run upgrade application but it would not continue since the battery charge is lower than 50%. i/ve made every thing possible but i failed, but once while it was connected to the USB and i was trying to run the upgrade application once again and it did not work also but suddanly i find it rebooting and windows 6.1 started very normally, i still did not know how this happend. but it happend and it work very good now.

You really make me happy... I'll keep trying...

Did you use Win XP or Vista?

As I understood and faced with this problem like you it is a problem with windows usb sync diver . I had your problem and could not upgrade even with microsoft xp sp 2 .

Instead, go to this post http://www.modaco.com/content/windows-mobile-news/252977/ruu-on-vista-it-can-be-done-the-ultimate-guide/ and follow instructions and your problem will be done as mine . look .these instructions and drivers are for vista .

with these instructions I flashed my phone in Vista and, Yes it worked .

I managed to upgrade my device after "EUM update fail: Please reconnect to PC and run the upgrade again" and "EUM update fail: Get Battery status fail"errors...
The issue was with the Battery, it was flat so I borrowed one from a friend and upgrade without any issue... Thanks a lot for the support...

Another Unhappy Imate User,

Support is very unhelpfull and constantly just "HANGS UP"

I wish to install this upgrade myself, is there a way to use vista to preform the upgrade yet?

Hey this may be a stupid question to those that know - in those modaco instructions for installing from Vista, what do they mean by 'Your device needs to be connected to the PC, and in BOOTLOADER mode'? How do you get the phone (I have an 8502) in bootloader mode? I thought being stuck in bootloader mode was one of the problems many people here were trying to get around?

When you run the update, it will put the phone into bootloader mode. The screen that I and others were getting about retrying the update was also bootloader mode. I haven't seen anyone that has figured out a way to force the device into the mode though.

Now Running 6.1 Woo Hoo.

I just spoke on the phone for 1 hour, with no call loss. It is amazing being able to use this device properly for the first time.

I wish Imate would get there act togeather, I have personally purshaced 4-5 imate devices in the last few years, and i must say Support... What Support. (No Offense to the support team, but come on Imate information updates would be a big FIRST step)

Anyone having issues under vista, see the VistaRUU.zip file flooting around the net (Will not post link as they appear to get removed.) also run the app under XPSP2 Compatibility Mode.
