They are now. I've seen some SanDISK ones being advertised on amazon and other reliable memory selling websites. Although like you, I'm using a 8GB one right now and it's serving just fine for my needs.

Status: offline 		been talking to live support and the comment was made that the 6.1 ROM is still with the testing department, should be available "soon", but no further information could be given. Yes, sounds like a brush-off / standard line to me, but was also told to write an email complaining to techsupport@imate.com, and that doing so would be useful.
If we all write an email (that isn't insulting, rude, etc even though that's what we think they deserve) then perhaps something may come out of it.
I definitely plan on writing from a corporate email address informing them that the delays to the 6.1 ROM are resulting in the organisation I work for moving away from having i-mates as a supported mobile for corporate usage. If they think they have lost you as a customer then they won't be inclined to fix things. If they think they may lose you though, then some traction might be obtained. And am I worried about them reading this on the forums? No, because to do so they would have to be aware of the huge issues being caused by the delays to the 6.1 ROM.

Status: offline 		Ok. Installed the OS and programs yesterday.
Battery was at 60% charge when I did the load. Put the unit on charge overnight/
In the morning, I found that the unit had shut itself down and was very warm. When I turned it on, it had under 10% charge.

Today I charged it up again, and it seemed to charge ok.

It had developed a problem with IE however. After random amounts of time (short), it locked up and was completely unresponsive, requireing removing the battery to unlock it.

Loaded were only 2 3rd party software products, Google Earth and the Lingvosoft Russian translator and cyrillic keyboard driver.

On the possibility that the keyboard driver is the source of the problem, I've done a complete cold start and the unit is now clean with only the software supplied by IMATE.
I will let you know how it goes.

If the problem is due to the keyboard driver, I will be very dissappointed as the translator was the sole reason I chose this telephone.
I have googled the software and and could find no reference to anyone else having problems with the keyboard driver, in any of it's variants on any windows device, phone or otherwise, or in fact on any of the other supported platforms.

The version 6 version of the OS would lock up this way randomly after a few weeks of fairly heavy usage but the 6.1 OS locks up within at best a couple of minutes each and every time I run IE.

Since all of the threads I posted in had expressed an interest about if/when there would be some news on an official 6.1 ROM release, I thought the persons reading them might be interested in what my experience in testing that ROM was.

Since this clearly makes me an "idiot" I will refrain from releasing any further information about it in future.

There is no context for what you have been testing. Someone asked you in one of those threads what you were talking about, and you didn't answer that question.

What official ROM have you been testing? Where did you get it? Where is this "news on official 6.1 ROM" which you can see, but nobody else has? Unless you provide some context about your background (maybe you're someone with insider knowledge, but you certainly didn't disclose it anywhere), it sounds like you just barged in the threads with bunch of non sequitur like "OK, the beta 1.77 is ready, and I'm going to test it now". You need to explain more clearly what you're talking about.

No probs, I wont burden you further. I had thought that with all the speculation about IMATE's financial woes, people might be interested to hear that there was in fact some work continuing towards fixing the woes of this phone. Apparently not.

I am beta testing. The point about beta testing is that it is not public. Since IMATE support have been saying for some time that a new ROM will be released by christmas, clearly at some point in time it would need to be tested by a wider audience for testing before then.

Status: offline 		Does anyone know if Skype (and other VoIP apps) work on the new ROM?  It's impossible to use VoIP on the old ROM because of loud weird noises coming out of the speaker.

Of course it does (Skype). All you have to do is do a search on this forum for Skype.

Delivered today from unicom (Poland).
As for now I`m happy with it and I hope it is as good as the beta ROM.
